Special Needs Planning

If you have a family member who will require assistance throughout adulthood due to physical, mental, or emotional challenges, we offer legal tools and guidance to that loved one’s entire support team (whether family, friends, or paid caregivers) to improve the quality of life for your loved one.

HOW WE HELP

Improved quality of life often involves protecting your loved one’s assets, qualifying for any and all learning programs to encourage independence, and qualifying for financial programs which will help you afford better care for a longer period of time.  We coordinate financial tools like estate administration and special needs trusts and the new NC ABLE accounts, and encourage our clients utilize Powers of Attorney, if at all possible.  These tools help to reduce or eliminate the deed for a court-appointed Guardian or Conservator.

Special Needs Planning answers questions like:

»  How do I provide for a loved one with special needs in my estate plan?
»  Can I use the NC ABLE accounts to help my loved one?
»  How do I ensure that my loved one remains as independent as possible without disrupting his/her governmental benefits?
